What was found
Researchers described two new jumping spiders from western India: Mogrus shushka and Mogrus pune. The same study reports Mogrus larisae from India for the first time and provides the first formal description of the male of Mogrus rajasthanensis.
The species were distinguished through detailed morphological comparisons, particularly of the reproductive structures taxonomists use to separate closely related jumping spiders.
What makes that interesting
The spiders came from semi-arid habitats and urban parks, showing that undocumented diversity persists in landscapes shaped by people as well as in less disturbed environments.
Why it matters
Taxonomy is the foundation for studying ecology, distribution, and conservation. This paper does more than add two names: it makes several members of the genus easier to identify and places their known ranges on firmer ground.
