Community records & spotlights

Measured by keepers. Reviewed before publication.

Share an exceptional measurement, a photograph you are proud of, or the story of an animal in your care. Every record is moderated, evidence levels stay visible, and welfare comes before a title.

Community field log

Standout measurements, with context.

Titles may include largest recorded diagonal leg span, longest body length, or heaviest recorded animal. Categories will grow only when comparable, responsibly documented submissions exist.

Submissions are now open

A title is a snapshot of reviewed submissions—not a biological maximum or a reason to handle an animal.

Keeper photography

The animal matters more than the record.

Community spotlights make room for beautiful photographs, thoughtful husbandry observations, and individual animals that deserve a closer look—record or no record.

A practical review system

Evidence stays visible.

The review label tells visitors what was supplied. It does not pretend that a photograph can prove more than it actually shows.

01 · Keeper-reported

Statement received

The keeper supplied the animal, measurement, and method, but the measurement itself could not be checked from media.

02 · Photo-reviewed

Still image checked

A clear photograph shows the animal and measuring tool or tared scale. Perspective and visibility are considered during review.

03 · Video-reviewed

Continuous evidence checked

A continuous clip shows the measurement setup and result, providing the strongest practical evidence accepted by the site.

Humane measurement

Never disturb an animal for a title.

Use only calm, opportunistic measurements. If a safe view is not available, wait. No ranking is worth touching, stretching, restraining, or provoking an animal.

DLS

Diagonal leg span

  • Photograph from directly above.
  • Keep the ruler in the same plane as the animal.
  • Measure naturally extended opposite legs without contact.
WEIGHT

Tared scale

  • Tare the secure container first.
  • Show the stable reading and unit clearly.
  • Prefer a continuous clip from taring to final reading.
IDENTITY

Submitted as

  • Include the scientific name you use.
  • Share provenance only when useful and non-sensitive.
  • If identity cannot be independently confirmed, it will be marked “submitted as”.

Submit for review

Start with an email. The app can prepare the details.

For a measurement, include the scientific name, measurement and unit, method, and the clearest photo or short video available. For a spotlight, include a photograph and a few sentences about the animal or moment.

  • Say how you would like to be credited—or ask to remain anonymous.
  • Confirm that you own the submitted media and may share it.
  • Do not include exact locations, home details, or other private information.
  • Published media has identifying metadata removed where practical.

By submitting media, you give Introvertebrates non-exclusive permission to display it on the website and related Introvertebrates channels. You retain ownership and may request removal. Submission does not guarantee publication.
